Privacy policy

In short: the game collects nothing about you, the website uses no cookies or trackers, and whatever you send us through a form, we only use to help you. The details are below.

1. Who we are

Commanding the Century is made by Code4Missions Studios, part of Code4Missions (code4missions.nl). Code4Missions is responsible for the processing of personal data on this website. You can send questions about privacy to [email protected].

For the rest of Code4Missions' work, the privacy policy at code4missions.nl applies.

2. The game

Commanding the Century requires no account, no login and no online service. The game sends no data to us or to anyone else.

  • Network: in a LAN match, the PCs on your own network exchange game data, player names and chat messages directly with each other. None of this reaches us.
  • On your own PC: the game stores your settings (such as player name, colour, language and graphics), your saved games and a log file in your own user folder. These stay on your PC unless you attach them to a report yourself.

3. The website

  • No cookies, analytics or trackers: we don't keep track of who you are or what you look at, and we use no advertising or statistics services.
  • Everything from our own server: fonts, images, video and sound are not loaded from third parties.
  • Your own preferences: the site remembers in your browser (localStorage) which language and which theme (dark or light) you choose. This stays on your own device and you can clear it via your browser settings.
  • Server logs: as with any website, the web server records technical data about each request, such as your IP address, the time, the page requested and your browser type. We only use this to keep the site secure and working.

4. Contact and report forms

When you use the contact form or the report form, we receive:

  • your name and email address;
  • the subject or type of report, and your message;
  • for a report, optionally the game version, a description of your system and any attachments you add yourself (such as screenshots, a saved game or a log file);
  • the language of the page on which you filled in the form.

We only use this data to answer your question and to investigate and fix bugs in the game. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in responding to messages and improving the game, and your request for contact.

Spam protection: to prevent abuse, the form invisibly checks whether it was filled in by a human. To do so, we count how many messages arrive per hour from the same address. We do not store your IP address for this, only an irreversible value derived from it, and we clear these counters after two days. A rejected submission is logged without the content of the message.

5. Who we share data with

We do not sell data and do not pass it on for advertising. Only these parties process data on our behalf:

PartyPurposeWhich dataWhere

Our hosting providerRunning the website and the formsServer logs and the temporary processing of formsEuropean Union

Transfers outside the European Union are covered by appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

6. How long we keep data

  • Messages and reports: as long as needed to handle your question or fix the bug. After that we delete them, no later than two years after the last contact.
  • Attachments: as soon as the report has been handled.
  • Spam counters: two days.
  • Server logs: as briefly as the hosting allows, usually a few weeks.

7. Security

The website and the forms work over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Only the people who need to handle your message can read it. Attachments are checked for type and size and are not stored on the web server: they go straight into the email to us.

8. Your rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) you have the right to access your data, have it corrected or deleted, have its processing restricted, object, and have your data transferred. To do so, send an email to [email protected]. We respond within one month, free of charge.

If we cannot resolve it together, you can file a complaint with the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (the Dutch Data Protection Authority, autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl) or with the supervisory authority in your own country.

9. Changes

If the game or the website changes, we update this policy. The latest version is always on this page. Last updated: 12 October 2026.
