Five ages

Your headquarters is the clock of your civilisation. Gather enough resources, click advance and watch your whole army and city leap forward an age. Horses become tractors, biplanes become jet fighters, and your flag and form of government change along with them.

Refitted on the spot

Your existing units are not thrown away. After advancing, they are refitted one by one, with a golden shimmer, to the newest model in their line.

Cities that grow with you

Buildings gain new details in every age: power poles, radio masts, a Würzburg radar, a radar dome, solar panels and cameras. From the Cold War onwards the bank gets an office tower.

History in the flag

The German Empire becomes the Weimar Republic, Russia becomes the Soviet Union and the Haganah becomes Israel. Name, flag, central bank and intelligence service change along with it.

The Great War

Starting age

Europe marches into war with horses, bayonets and the conviction that it will all be over by Christmas. It becomes a war of trenches, barbed wire and artillery. Your work crews ride horse and cart and clear the forest with axes.

Build trenches and bunkers, deploy MG teams and marksmen, and break through with the Mark IV, the very first tanks. Sopwith Camels fight above the front and HMS Dreadnought rules the sea. Anti-aircraft defence is a Thornycroft lorry with a 13-pounder on its flatbed.

The world licks its wounds and motorises. The Fendt Dieselross appears in the fields, and the motorcycle and the light tank in the army. Factories, laboratories and field hospitals now become available.

Stormtroopers replace the riflemen, the Vickers Medium is the newest tank and the Junkers Ju 52 drops the first bombs. With the Intelligence & development centre you start researching firepower, protection, strategy and economy.

Second World War

Advance: 600 food, 250 gold, 200 steel75 s at the headquarters

The largest war in history is fought with tanks, aircraft and submarines. Your work crew gets an excavator, your factory builds Shermans and Willys jeeps, and Spitfires and B-17 Flying Fortresses take off from your airfield.

At sea, Iowa-class battleships sail, Fletcher destroyers hunt Type VIIC U-boats with depth charges, and landing craft put tanks on the beach. The anti-aircraft emplacement becomes an 8.8 cm Flak 36.

Two blocs face each other with their fingers on the button. The jet fighter and the helicopter change the battlefield, and with the radar station you can, for the first time, see what the enemy is doing without sending a scout.

The M60 Patton, the M113 and the BM-21 Grad roll off the production line, the AH-1 Cobra hunts tanks and the B-52 bombs from high altitude. Your air defence becomes an S-75 Dvina with missiles and your harbour builds nuclear submarines. Research the spy satellite to briefly reveal an entire area.

Precision, stealth and drones. The M1 Abrams, the F-35 and the B-2 Spirit are the strongest units in the game, but a drone operator who spots them in advance or a cheap kamikaze drone diving onto them can take them out.

Your work crew drives a DAF XF tipper truck with an Atlas excavator. HIMARS and the Iskander fire from enormous distances, the Pantsir-S1 and Patriot with Goalkeeper protect the skies, and Javelin gunners hit tanks from afar.

For each type of unit, this shows which model you get in which age. A faded box means the previous model carries on. Click a unit in the encyclopedia for all the numbers.
